Slate
Visual Instant Messenger
Get
your tablets ready and mouses (mice?) engaged.
Slate VIM lets uses take communication from the keyboard to
the tablet. Typing, handwriting, drawing are all valid forms
of expression.
To
access VIM users must go to a host Website. Therein users
may create VIM communities – globally dispersed family
groups, local high school clubs, college sororities, or
public chat rooms. VIM hosts decide who to invite into their
communities. Buddy lists include all community users. And
much like a group board, VIM requires registration and
identification.
Current IM
providers may integrate Slate's digital ink to give their
users drawing, sketching, and handwriting
functionality.
Babel
VIM
VIM
supports expressions in all languages. Here we have two
friends writing in Tamil. What is Tamil you may ask? Tamil Nadu is the southern most state of India,
capital city Madras. While Vaskar lives in Madras, his
friend Subidita lives in Virginia. But since VIM is
Web-based all they required to visually instant message
was access to the Internet.
VIMMING
for Fun
Tim, Garth, Sara, Bob, and
Jon
athan created a VIM community just for fun. One day while
VIMMING, Tim asked Garth and his family over for a barbeque.
They typed, wrote, illustrated, and doodled, smiling all the
while at their respective creativity.
