Slate Product Capabilities

File Upload – Slate Products include two "capture" features allowing your users to work with files from any Web-based server. For example, Slate Capture will parse a URL for its images (e.g., GIF, JPG, or PNG). Clicking on the image wanted sends it to the Slate Center or Slate Writer canvas to be mark-up, saved, and shared with others. Alternatively, Slate Capture can be used to turn any Web page into an image, which can then be marked up within Slate Center or Slate Writer.

File Swap & Collaboration – With Slate Center your users can save their work into public and private folders. By saving to the public folder your users can share their work with other community members, creating terrific opportunities for collaboration and cross-pollination of ideas. In the private folder your users can keep their work safe and secure to resume creating, annotating, and editing in the future.

Private Label Branding – Slate Center not only enables content, but also enables content in any language. You can customize Slate Center to the language of your users. Slate Center tools come in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, and more – your language is our language.

Syndication – Imagine Slate Center as a channel for branded content. Publishers, entertainment companies, and artists can license their branded content through Slate Center to Web site operators with limited resources.

Affiliate Commerce – Slate Center comes with a "shopping" button. The technology serves as an affiliate commerce channel wherein your users can purchase what they see and do online.

Registration – Your users must first register with Slate Center to leverage its Web-based tools and applications. Registration requires a user ID, password, and valid email address. Users must reply to email sent from the Slate Server in 24 hours to activate registration. Once registered, users receive immediate access to the host content, and private and public storage folders. Registration must take place at each customer site regardless whether a user has already subscribed with another Slate Technology customer. Notwithstanding, users may subscribe to each customer with the same user ID and password, if not already taken on the customer site.

Email – Slate Center enables your users to send email in the form of a text message along with an attachment. Standard SENDMAIL is used to access SMTP services on the server.

Fax – Slate Center supports faxes through integrated support of fax hosted service. In order to leverage this capability, users must create an account with a fax vendor such as Jfax. In the fax, the attachment is rendered in grayscale and follows a text message.

Scrolling – Slate Products gives your users more room to create or mark-up content than most applets or plug-ins. By scrolling vertically or horizontally your users can access the hidden parts of their canvas and extend their work beyond the web frame.

Freedom from the Keyboard – Ever feel imprisoned by the keyboard? Slate Products is not limited to QWERTY or ISO-Latin characters. It supports input from tablets as well as advanced images. Write cursive, draw maps, add Chinese characters, Slate Products handles all images and tablet-based communications.

Visual Instant Messenger^TM (VIM^TM) – We know that your users like to instant message colleagues and friends from their desktops. How about instant messaging work directly from the Web. Slate Products enables content to be shared instantly. Your users can send type-written messages, drawings, cursive letters, and more instantly to other community members.

Customization – Slate Center and Slate Products tools and actions can be customized according to client requirements. And new ones can be created. Current Web-based tools and actions include:

-       Line – Use the Line tools to draw straight lines between two points.

-       Color Fill – Use Color Fill to flood an enclosed area.

-       Writing Pen – Use the Writing Pen for handwriting and drawing with your mouse, tablet, or stylus. This tools is specifically tailored for handwriting and other fast movements.

-       Brush – Use the Brushes for painting or coloring.

-       Stamps – Drag and drop stamps or icons onto the image being marked up.

-       Text – Use the Text tools to type directly into the canvas or onto an image. Click anywhere on the page to initially position the cursor. Then use the arrows, backspace, and enter keys to move the cursor.

-      Lasso – Use the Lasso tool to draw an outline or lasso around a portion of a page.

-       Ellipse – Use the Ellipse tool to draw solid circles and ellipses.

-       Rectangle – Use the Rectangle tool to draw solid rectangles.

-       Login – Before users can SAVE or SEND any page, they must first log in to the Slate Server. For first-time users, simply press LOGIN and then press NEW USER. Previous users enter their ID and Password.

-       New User – New User registration is not required to begin to use the client, but visitors will want to register in order to save and share their work.

-       Undo – Changes can be removed from the page by pressing the UNDO button one or more times.

-       Clear – Clear removes all changes to a page with a single click.

-       Save – Users can save their work to private and public Slate Server folders. This option provides critical “off platform” storage for all version of the Slate Center client components. Users can save their work, return later to resume activities, as well as share their work with other visitors to the customer’s Slate-enabled website.

-       Email – The EMAIL button enables users to send their page through email to a recipient along with a text message. Slate Center prompts users for the recipient’s email as well as their own.

-       Fax – The FAX button enables users to send their work through email to a recipient along with a text message. Slate Center will prompt users for the recipient’s email address as well as their own. Users must have an account with an email-to-fax provider to leverage this fax functionality.

-       Delete – The DELETE button enables users to delete work they have stored to private and public folders on the Slate Server.

-       Buy – The BUY button allows users to purchase goods associated with the hosted content at an affiliate website. This action opens a new browser at the affiliate site.

-       About – The ABOUT button provides additional information about Slate Center .

-       Help – The HELP button presents Slate Center help information to the user.
